Get Your Roll On... With Roll-Fed Injection In-Mold Labels

A new technology that we are excited to share with you is our Roll-Fed IML labels for ‘Cut in Place’ IML. This new Roll-fed technology cuts the label to shape and size at the molding unit. The process of cutting the labels individually at the molding press could provide you with as much as 35% cost savings compared to standard Cut and Stack Injection In-Mold labels. These savings are a result of reduced errors, labor, and material. Errors such as snags in the punching process and printing surfaces sticking together are eliminated when the label is provided on a roll instead of taken from a stack. In addition, your labels will no longer have label-to-label size variation, which reduces the need for additional cutting and converting. This technology allows for thinner gauge label material as low as 45 micron for white and clear film, reducing the raw material needed, providing you with a cost effective, green label option.

CBW Automation demonstrated this new technology at the 2009 NPE show using Inland’s Roll-Fed IML labels. CBW Automation combined a 175-ton Netstal Elion press and a roll-fed cut-in-place label system to produce IML containers without using precut labels.
